Choosing a Mattress

Firmness: A soft mattress may feel perfect when you first lie down but by morning you may find your body plagued by aches and pain. A good mattress should cradle your body with enough support so your body does not sag into the mattress.

Comfort: The mattress you choose will affect your health and overall well-being since it influences your rest. So lie down for at least 15 minutes on the mattress of choice in the store to be sure.

Support: Keep in mind your needs best so ensure that the mattress offers support where you need it most. Don’t allow the salesperson sell you something else.

Price: Going for the cheapest model may not be the best decision since the mattress is expected to last you for the next 10 years. Lower priced mattress tend to be thinner than better made ones and lack the firmness to provide support. Shop for quality and value.

Selecting Bed Sheets

Holy sheet – Given the wide selection available, it’s a good idea to invest in more than one set of sheets. As a general rule, purchase two to three sets for each bed so come laundry day, the bed won’t be left naked.

Thread count – This is the number of threads per square inch of fabric, so the higher thread count will always be softer and more comfortable than the lower thread count. As a general rule, opt for at least 200 thread count.

Fabric content – 100% cotton sheets will be the softest and most breathable. Cotton comes in different grades which are determined by the length of its staple or fibre. The longer the staple, the more luxurious and durable the grade. Beyond regular pure cotton sheets, there are two high grade cotton bed sheets to consider; Egyptian Cotton and Supima.

Cotton poly is another commonly seen bed sheet fabric. It’s a mix of cotton and polyester which does not allow it to wrinkle easily. Price-wise is also fairly moderate.

Besides the kitchen, interior bedroom design is the most popular room to design in the family home. The bedroom should be cozy and restful in its appearance. Bright colors are not recommended because they are not calming. Colors best suited for bedrooms are warm and neutral colors.

To start your interior bedroom design plan you should choose the fabrics first along with the base wall color. One the fabric and color is selected then you can select the furniture that matches. For wall coverings, you do not need to purchase expensive artwork. If you or someone you know is a photographer then choose some unique photos to cover the walls. If you or someone you know is an artist then maybe you can hang some of their artwork in a nice frame. Now you will have wall hangings that no one else will have.

When doing your interior bedroom design the flooring in bedrooms should never be tile, marble or granite. Use wood or carpet for bedrooms, you do not want an ice-cold floor in the morning. Make a list of what you want from a bedroom. Do you need a room you can escape to, watch TV, work or just sleep in? Do you want a really big bed or lots of storage? Do you like a particular look? Be realistic about what you can achieve in the space you have.

It’s very trendy to use wallpaper panels to create a tall, virtual ‘bedhead’. Using Color To Change The Size Of Your Bedroom

Did you ever wish your bedroom was bigger or smaller? Well if you don’t have enough money to change the actual size of the room, then you can use paint to make the bedroom seem bigger or smaller.

Paint is well known as one of the least expensive and easiest ways to change the look of any room, but if you pick your colors carefully you can give the space a new feel as well as a new look. Certain colors can make your bedroom walls feel closer or farther away.

If you have a small bedroom and you want it to feel more spacious, then consider painting the walls a receding color. These are the blue – green – purpleish colors and any combination thereof. Look at a basic color wheel – you’ll see that those colors are all next to each other on one side. You probably want to avoid the darkest of these combinations, however as painting a room in very dark tones can make it look smaller overall.

If you want to make a large bedroom feel more cozy, then paint the walls advancing colors. These are the colors on the other side of the color wheel – the reds, oranges and yellow. Bright warm colors will close in the space and make the room seem cheerful and cozy. Also if you have a large cavernous room with a very high ceiling, consider painting the ceiling a medium or dark color which will make bring the appearance back down to a normal height.

When painting your bedroom, make sure you buy enough paint to do the job! Consider how many coats you will need. A dark color may need several coats. IF you are trying to paint a light color over a dark, you may need to use some primer and also a couple of coats. 1 gallon of paint can do about 400 square feet so keep this in mind. To measure your room, go around the edge of all the walls with a measuring tape and record the total width. Measure the height from floor to ceiling and multiply by total width to get the square footage. Measure all the doors and window opening and subtract this from the total square footage (or not, it’s always a good idea to have a little extra paint then not enough!).

Don’t forget to protect your wood moldings with painters tape, remove all the covers from the electrical outlets and plugs and cover the floor and furniture with drop cloths!

The quickest way to a new look is a splash of paint. Even if you use the same color (because you had paint left over), a fresh coat of color reinvigorates the room, makes it look cleaner, newer. If you've grown tired of your wall color, choose a new one, drape protective cloths over the furniture and get rolling.
